Msimanga To Return To Solomon Mahlangu Square On Final Push To Win Tshwane

Today, 02 August 2016, DA Mayoral Candidate for Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, will return to the site where he officially launch his Msimanga-For-Mayor campaign in October last year as he embarks on the final push to win Tshwane.

After months of campaigning, thousands of kilometres travelled, and countless voters canvassed, Election Day is upon us with all indications that the DA can win Tshwane on August 3 and bring the change the Capital needs.

Change is only possible though if each and every voter who wants corruption stopped, better services delivered and more jobs created comes out to vote for the DA.

Msimanga will be joined by DA National Spokesperson, Phumzile van Damme MP, and Constituency Head for Mamelodi, Natasha Mazzone MP.

The event will take place as follows:

Date: 02 August 2016
Time: 10h15
Venue: Solomon Mahlangu Square
Address: Cnr Tsamaya Avenue and Waltloo Road, Mamelodi, Pretoria

There will be opportunity for photographs and interviews.

Joint Briefing By Gauteng Mayoral Candidates: The DA Plan Against E-tolls In Joburg, Tshwane And Ekurhuleni

Tomorrow, Tuesday 19 July 2016, DA Mayoral Candidate for Tshwane, Solly Msimanga, DA Mayoral Candidate for Johannesburg, Herman Mashaba, and DA Mayoral Candidate for Ekurhuleni, Ghaleb Cachalia, will brief the media on our plan against E-tolls as DA-governed Metro Municipal governments, after the 03 August Elections.

In this Election voters can elect a DA government which will tackle E-tolls, rather than an ANC local government which supports and sustains E-tolls.

Only the DA can beat the ANC in Joburg, Tshwane and Ekurhuleni, and once in government, only the DA will tackle E-tolls. Our plan against E-tolls will be presented in practical terms, as we are ready to stand up for the people of Gauteng who are being fleeced by SANRAL and the national ANC government.

The Mayoral Candidates will be joined by DA Gauteng Provincial Leader, John Moodey MPL, and DA Shadow Minister for Transport, Manny De Freitas MP.

Date: Tuesday, 19 July 2016

DA To Reveal Dire State Of Rooiwal Water Treatment Works

Today, 15 July 2016, DA Tshwane Mayoral Candidate, Solly Msimanga, the DA Shadow Deputy Minister of Water and Sanitation, Leon Basson MP, and DA Member in the NCOP, Bronwynn Engelbrecht MP, will revisit the Rooiwal Water Treatment Works in Hammanskraal as it continues to deteriorate, placing the community at risk.

It has now been a year since the DA first visited the plant on 10 July 2015, and the condition of the plant has gone from bad to worse to completely non-functional. Sewage sludge build up has continued to flow into the Apies River which feeds the Themba Dam that provides Hammanskraal with drinking water.

It is obvious that the facility, meant to treat water so that is safe for human consumption, is not functioning and is putting the health of the people of Hammanskraal in danger.

While the people of Hammanskraal are in danger, however, the Minister of Water and Sanitation, Nomvula Mokonyane, either does not care to find out what is actually going on or is willfully misleading Parliament and the people of South Africa.

In reply to a Parliamentary question earlier this year on the functioning of the facility, the Minister stated that “the plant is appropriately maintained” and that “there is no sewage overflow from Rooiwal.

The Rooiwal plant is a prime example of how the ANC in Tshwane has failed the people and put their health at risk.

The events will take place as follows:

Event: Oversight at Rooiwal Water Treatment Works

Date: 15 July 2016

Time: 10h30

Location: Rooiwal Waste Water Works

GPS co-ordinates: 25°33’26.0″S 28°13’39.0″E

There will be photo and interview opportunities.

DA To Expose Major Financial Failings By The City of Joburg

Tomorrow, Thursday 14 July 2016, DA Johannesburg Mayoral Candidate, Herman Mashaba, will reveal major financial failings by the City of Johannesburg.

Over the past weeks, the DA has revealed how under Parks Tau’s leadership, the City of Johannesburg has splurged millions of Rand worth of tax-payers’ money on self-praise and electioneering for the ANC.

Parks Tau has tried to position himself as the Mayor who has overseen excellent financial records and stability in the City, however this is a blatant distortion of the truth.

Under a DA-governed City of Johannesburg, the peoples’ money will be used sensibly to stimulate economic growth and job creation and ensure improved service delivery to all residents.

The DA is set on winning Johannesburg in this year’s elections so that it can bring change that moves the City forward.

Mashaba will be joined by the DA Chief Whip in the Gauteng Legislature, Mike Moriarty MPL, and DA Caucus Leader in the City of Johannesburg, Cllr Vasco da Gama.

The media briefing will take place as follows:

Date: Thursday 14 July 2016

Time: 10h00

Place: Elm Room, Johannesburg Country Club, 1 Napier Road, Auckland Park.

There will be ample opportunity for interviews and photographs. Members of media are welcome to attend.

The events will take place as follows:
