Non-operational Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board website raises concerns

The Democratic Alliance (DA) in Gauteng is shocked to learn that the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board website is not operational.

The Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board only has a Facebook Page and a Twitter handle which are operational.

The Facebook Page gives only the website as the contact, and the website is not operational. There are no contact numbers or email addresses for the public to contact the Board.

The website is an important platform that outlines the mandate and the work of the Board as well as provides contacts that should be used by the public to report community safety issues.

The DA believes that the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board must be accessible to the public. The public should be able to find a list of contacts of all 142 Community Policing Forums in the province on the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board website.

The DA calls on the Gauteng Community Safety MEC, Faith Mazibuko to ensure that the Gauteng Provincial Community Police Board website is operational. The Community Policing budget should be spent in the right way, according to its mandate to improve relations and communication between the Board and communities its serve.
